10 Ways to become an Optimist

Happy smiling people holding hands

I heard somewhere, and that thought sits somewhere in the recesses of my brain, that learning new stuff is good for your brain. Apparently, neurons in your head talk to each other more, and this social interaction is beneficial for making new connections.
It’s even better if you believe you can learn new stuff, because when you think you can it’s like that little train that thought he could. He made more neuron connections, you see?
So, if you believe you probably can’t, you probably won’t, because you’ll give up! If your energy is positive, then the Universe give us more happy and positive experiences. This is often called the Law of Attraction, but it’s common sense (mostly).

The question is ,though, how do you become positive when everyone and everything around you seems to be negative or pessimistic?

1) Make a list of the negatives in your life, and then start changing them one by one. It is easier to change the small ones first. By changing the little things, the big things just naturally fall into place.

2) Learn not to butt heads with things you cannot change, like physical restrictions. Some things are just meant to be, and they make you stronger if you have a positive perspective.

3) Avoid criticism, including self-criticism. That does not mean you cannot admit to making mistakes; in fact that is the first step to learning from them. Realise that others also make mistakes, which only makes them human.

4) Feel truly grateful for what you have. Build that list of positives, because the universe responds to what we show it.

5) Be as honest as you can with yourself and the world.

6) Change your vocabulary. Replace ‘impossible’ with ‘I can try’. Try not to name and shame, and put a positive word in instead.

7) True happiness comes from loving our families and friends and the rest of humanity. The happiness that we get from material wealth is fleeting, and is soon replaced with a need for more.

8) Look around you. Get in touch with your universe, your surroundings and all the beauty therein.

9) Look inside you. You are beautiful, a unique person, with unique needs. Use meditation to achieve inner peace and to communicate that to the universe.

10) Look around you. You have the power to change your life. You alone. Believe that the bad experiences you have had in your life are part of who you are, but that they are history. There is a better life waiting for you out there.
Your new, improved life can start whenever you make a conscious effort to begin.

This Joke:

A neuron arrives in a man’s brain. He’s all alone in the big empty box.
‘Hello,’ he says. No answer.
‘HELLO!’ he says again, only hearing the echo of his voice.
Sad, he sits down and starts crying.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, another neuron appears out of breath, finds him and says, ‘Wacha doin? WE’RE ALL DOWNSTAIRS!’
