Fruitarian or Vegetarian (or Pescatarian)?

Fruitarian and Vegan diets are sections of Vegetarianism. Both groups refrain from eating meat, including beef, poultry, and seafood; in addition, they both steer clear of animal by-products, such as dairy, eggs, and honey.

Differences – Fruitarian vs Vegetarian

One of the main differences is their stance on grains and vegetables. Fruitarians generally avoid foods that require harming the plant, which means that their diet excludes vegetables and grains. They live entirely on nuts, seeds, and fruit – and most of their food is eaten raw.

Vegans include vegetables, grains, and processed food in their diets. Although this gives Vegans a dietary advantage over Fruitarians, processed Vegan alternatives to meat and dairy often contain a lot of preservatives and sodium.

A balanced Vegan diet can cater for the Vitamins, Minerals, Fatty Acids, and Amino Acids without using additional supplements.

For Fruitarians, their restrictions can lead to lack of nutritional requirements, including vitamin B12, vitamin D, iron, zinc, calcium, Omega 3 Fatty Acids, and some of the Amino Acids. They would need to supplement their diets.

Tooth Decay

Fruitarians are likely to suffer from tooth decay due to their high fruit intake. Citrus fruit, such as Oranges, are naturally acidic – which can erode the enamel on your teeth. Fruits, such as apples, are naturally high in sugars – and in combination with the high acid, can cause tooth decay.

Pescatarianism

This way of life means being Vegatarian while still including seafood in your diet. (Meats such as red meat, pork, and poultry are excluded.)

Over time your body’s unnatural craving for Beef, Pork or Chicken will disappear after being on a Pescatarian diet for a little while. This is because land-animal flesh is crammed with toxins, uric acid and fecal bacteria.

Whereas humans get sick from consuming raw meat without cooking and seasoning it first, we can eat fish and seafood raw.

The only reason mankind started to eat land animals, is that vegetables and berries were scarce, and they killed mammals to survive.

Connection between meat consumption and health problems

Meat consumption in the West has doubled in the last 50 years. Cancer, heart disease, strokes, and obesity have also increased drastically in the last 50 years. Is there a connection between the two or is it purely coincidental?

According to a study, up to 80 percent of cancer cases can be prevented by healthy diets that contain only small amounts of fats and oils, and high amounts of fibre.

Meat is often saturated with harmful pesticides and chemicals, which can be dangerous to humans.

All the protein you need comes from eating appropriate levels of whole grains, legumes, and other plants.

Fish is low in saturated fat and high in Omega 3; Omega 3 has been shown to reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease and diabetes. Fish is also high in iron, which lowers the risk of iron deficiency anaemia – common amongst Vegans and Vegetarians.
