Diets – an ode to them

One
The worst thing about depression is the solitude,
Which gets me in a mood and totally unglued,
So where I head with that attitude is straight to food,
Whether it be fried, stewed, grilled or even barbecued,

Once it goes into my mouth, gobbled and chewed,
I feel invigorated, whatever my longitude and latitude,
Wherever I find myself, I feel amplitude, I feel renewed,
And that is where I should conclude.

Two
Whether you are fruitarian, pescetarian, vegetarian or vegan,
Whether you want a body for life or fit for life,
Whether you want to watch your weight or be a sugar buster,
You can follow some sort of diet.

Whether you want to be high-protein, high residue,
If you prefer low-fat, low sodium, low-sulfur or low carbon,
If you prefer omnivore, carnivore, or herbivore,
You don’t have to start a riot.

You can boil your stuff like the macrobiotic,
Do some juice fasting, master cleanse or the watermelon,
Even if you are hindu, buddhist, kosher, or seventh-day adventist,
Whatever you have you have to buy it or fry it.

You might be into dukan, south beach or beverly hills,
You could be doing organic, raw or celery for that negative calorie,
You could be doing anti-cancer, diabetic or junk food,
At home, at KFC, at Costa, on the road or at the Wyatt.

Does it really matter if you are trying the prison loaf,
The slimming world, the elimination, the jenny craig,
Or if you have a big bottle of the liquid diet,
Don’t deny it, don’t just eye it – just try it.
